some of my readers are wondering why such incredibly beautiful women from Ukraine and Russia are looking for a man from the West. But the most interesting question my readers ask me is that why us Ukrainian and Russian ladies might be interested in an “average” man like you.
I wrote already in my articles that Ukrainian and Russian women want to meet a man who they can trust to be with them for a long time. They want an honest man, a loyal man, a man that makes them laugh.
And I am sure that an “average” guy from the West can give all this things to his wife from Ukraine. But some men do not want or cannot believe in my statements.
That’s why I decided to tell you about the male/female sex ratio in Ukraine and Russia and explain you with the help of statistical facts why not every woman from Ukraine and Russia can find her match in her home country, thence she seeks him abroad.
Human sex ratio in an overview
These three words relate to the anthropology aspect of the percentage of males to females within a population. The sex ratio is about 1:1 for most types of creatures.
For humans the lesser sex ratio at birth is generalized to be 105 male to 100 female. This places the sex ratio for the entire world to be 101 males to 100 females.
The male/female sex ratio in Ukraine
Focusing on the Ukraine area, the human sex ratio is 0.852 male/female ratio as of the end of 2012. The sex ratio at birth was 1.065 male/female ratios. Within the popular demographic of 15 to 64 year olds the sex ratio is 0.917 male/female.
As I know, the official tally of female to males is 10 to 9 in Ukraine. In some small towns in Ukraine, there may be most likely 9 females to 6 guys who are actually suitable boyfriend/husband material. And this is a really noticable difference, in my opinion. That makes the Ukrainian men able to be a little picky when choosing their significant other.
On the Internet, I found the following information on the male/female sex ratio in Ukraine:
Ukraine has disturbing male mortality. Over the Former Soviet Union, the situation is worse only in Russia and Kazakhstan. The “risk group” is the 40-60 age range, where men-to-women ratio is 6 / 10. Today’s Ukrainian men aged 40+ have 31% risk to die before their 60′th birthday.
In Ukraine, marriage partners are most sought for around their 30’s, and up to the age of 32 there are still more men than women. This reflects the worldwide natural law. Approximately 106 boys per 100 girls are born. Scores get equal around their 30+, and go on descending, to 1-2 men per 10 women as late as by the age of 80.
Age structure in Ukraine:
- Population growth rate: -0.78% (2001 est.)
- Birth rate: 9.31 births/1,000 population (2001 est.)
- Death rate: 16.43 deaths/1,000 population (2001 est.)
- Net migration rate: -0.63 migrant(s)/1,000 population (2001 est.)

The male/female sex ratio in Russia
The Russian Federation has a similar sex ratio of total population coming in at 0.850 ratio of male/female. The sex ratio at birth is 1.060 male/female ratios, only .005 lower than the Ukrainian sex birth ratio. The demographic of 15-64 year olds in the Russian community are at a 1.055 male/female ratio.
According to an official estimate for 1 October 2012, the population of Russia was 143,300,000. The population hit a historic peak at 148,689,000 in 1991, just before the breakup of the Soviet Union, but then began a decade-long decline, falling at a rate of about 0.5% per year due to declining birth rates, rising death rates and emigration.
However, the decline began to slow considerably in recent years, and in 2009 Russia recorded a yearly population spike for the first time in 15 years, with a growth rate of 23,300.
